Summer holidays on the Feuerkogel
Active holidays in the Salzkammergut

The Feuerkogel is a mountain full of possibilities. Extreme athletes will get their money’s worth here, as do families. From Edelweiss Berggasthof you will get to experience the sunny, wide high plateau on the Feuerkogel – including great views.
Hiking
Climbing on the via ferrata
Airy prospects on the Feuerkogel! Those who want to feel rough rock under their hands can find a marvellous via ferrata at the Alberfeldkogel (difficulty B/C/D, total length ca. 3.5 hours). It is located at the north-eastern edge of the Alberfeldkogel not far from the Edelweiss mountain inn. Via steel ropes and stepping sticks, the trail leads up to the Europe Cross where a breathtaking view will await you.
Biking
Those who want to go mountain biking on the Feuerkogel will need endurance! From Ebensee, a 10-kilometre-long, challenging mountain bike trail leads up to the Feuerkogel. But the mountain is also known for its downhill trail which belongs to the most difficult ones near and far. Gradients of up to 20%, challenging bridges and jumps will get your adrenaline flowing.
Away from Feuerkogel, however, you can also enjoy leisurely biking and cycling: The classics in the south of Lake Traunsee definitely include a bike tour to the natural paradise Offensee (approx. 37 km) or the Langbathseenrunde (34 km).
Paragliding
Take off and up into the air! Many people come to the Feuerkogel because of its excellent starting areas. There is a popular launching ramp on the mountain which is perfect for hang-gliders and paragliders. You want to experience the Salzkammergut from a bird’s perspective together with a trained pilot? Tandem flights are also possible on the Feuerkogel, just contact the flying school Salzkammergut.
Swimming in the Salzkammergut lakes
Not only the mountains will fascinate you in the Salzkammergut and especially in the Traunsee-Almtal region, but also its many crystal clear lakes. A popular and near destination, especially for families, is going down with the Feuerkogel cable car and to go on a trip to the Langbathseen. These two lakes in a hidden valley near Ebensee lie in a nature reserve and offer not only a stunning scenery but also beautiful, free bathing areas. Equally magnificent is Lake Offensee, which lies like a jewel at the foot of the Totes Gebirge mountains near Ebensee. Or you can stop off at the large Traunsee where bathing areas and lidos with shallow entrances will invite you to splash around.
